Music & Drama Ministry
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”    Colossians 3:16 (KJV)

Music has been used throughout history to worship God. All throughout the scriptures, especially the Psalms, there are passages providing specific instruction regarding musical worship of God. We are to lift our praise to the Lord and to minister on behalf of the Lord to God’s people and the surrounding community each time we gather for worship. Our music is our gift to the Lord, offered with great joy, sincerity, and love.
The scriptures command us to sing, and to sing a variety of music! That is just what you will find in the Music Ministry of Woodlawn  Baptist Church. Our congregation enjoys a wide range of musical styles—including gospel songs, great hymns of the faith, classical anthems, and exciting praise songs by contemporary composers,
At Woodlawn Baptist Church, we use our talents to further the mission given to all Christians  – to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Whether it is playing an instrument, singing, or acting in one of our productions, out talents are meant to express the love we have for our Lord.

How to Join the Music and Drama Ministries

Everyone is welcome to participate in the church’s Music and Drama Ministry. The Adult choir provides inspiring music for the 10:45 worship service. No tryouts are necessary—only a love for the Lord and ability to sing. When you come, you will be greeted by friendly choir members who will help you through the rehearsal. Be prepared to have a good time working hard together. Choir rehearsals are typically on Sunday at 7:00 pm.
The Praise Team, which practices on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., is a select ensemble who lead the Praise and Worship at our various services.
The Music and Drama Department has a place for you. It doesn’t matter if you sing, dance, play an instrument, or want to work behind the scenes, this ministry offers something for everyone.
We do two productions a year, one for Easter and the other at Christmas. We also perform a patriotic cantata to celebrate Independence Day.
